I. Daily maintenance
Body cleaning: regularly clean the dust, dirt and debris on the surface of the electric forklift to keep the body clean. Use wet cloth to wipe, avoid using high pressure water device or hot water system to clean, in order to prevent damage to the forklift’s electronic components and lines.
Battery cleaning: Keep the surface of the battery clean, gently wipe the outside of the battery with a damp cloth to prevent dust and impurities from accumulating and affecting the performance of the battery.
Tyre inspection and maintenance
Air pressure check: Check the air pressure of the tyres before each use to ensure that it meets the specified value. Excessively high or low air pressure will affect the service life and driving safety of the tyre. Generally speaking, the air pressure in pneumatic tyres should be no less than 1.8kg/cm².
Wear check: Check the wear of the tyres, look for tread pattern depth and any abnormalities such as cracks and cuts. If necessary, replace the tyres in time.
Wheel check: also check the wheel hub for deformation, cracks and other damages to ensure that the wheel hub fits well with the tyre.
Brake system check
Handbrake check: Check whether the handbrake is flexible and reliable, and can be tightened and released normally to ensure the stability of the vehicle when parking.
Foot brake inspection: for electric forklift trucks equipped with foot brake, check whether the travel and strength of the foot brake pedal are normal to ensure that it can effectively achieve the braking function.
Hydraulic system check
Leakage check: Always check whether there is hydraulic oil leakage in the pipelines and joints of the hydraulic system. If leakage is found, tighten the joints or replace the damaged seals in time to avoid the loss of hydraulic oil affecting the system pressure.
Oil level check: regularly check the oil level of the hydraulic oil tank to ensure that the oil level in the specified range. If the oil level is too low, hydraulic oil should be added in time.
Electrical system check
Battery connection check: check whether the battery connection line is loose, oxidised or corroded. If loose, tighten the connectors; if oxidised or corroded, sandpaper should be used to gently polish the connectors to maintain good electrical conductivity.
Power indication check: check whether the power is sufficient before use, when the power is insufficient, it should be charged in time to avoid using it in the state of power loss, which will affect the life of the battery.
Second, regular maintenance
Distilled water replenishment: For electric forklift trucks with water-added batteries, the liquid level of the battery should be checked regularly. If the liquid level is lower than the lowest liquid level, distilled water needs to be supplemented to keep the page between the lowest liquid level and the highest liquid level. Be careful not to add tap water, mineral water and other non-pure water, so as not to affect the battery performance.
Battery equalisation charging: carry out a battery equalisation charging every period of time (e.g. every week or every month, determined according to the frequency of use), so that each group of battery cells can reach a fully charged state to ensure the performance and service life of the battery.
Battery Replacement: When the battery has a serious loss of power, irreversible sulphation or to the service life (generally 2 – 3 years), it needs to be replaced with a new battery.
Lubrication Maintenance
Gantry rail lubrication: Regularly lubricate the gantry rails, roller shafts and other parts of the gantry. Lubricant or grease can be used to reduce friction and ensure smooth and flexible lifting of the gantry.
Joint parts lubrication: Lubricate the joints of the steering mechanism, drive axle and other parts to prevent wear and tear of the parts and to ensure light vehicle manoeuvring.
Hydraulic system maintenance
Hydraulic oil replacement: Replace the hydraulic oil every certain working hours (e.g. 2000 – 3000 hours, refer to the instruction manual of the forklift truck). At the same time, replace the hydraulic oil filter to ensure the cleanliness and normal operation of the hydraulic system.
Hydraulic pump inspection: check the working condition of the hydraulic pump, see whether there is abnormal noise, overheating or insufficient pressure. If there is any problem, repair or replace the hydraulic pump in time.
Mechanical components inspection and maintenance
Drive system check: check whether the connection of the drive motor, gearbox and other components is firm, and whether there is any abnormal noise. If any parts are found to be worn or damaged, they should be replaced in time.
Gantry structure check: check the inner and outer gantry of the gantry for deformation, cracks and other damages. At the same time, check whether the lifting chain or wire rope of the gantry is seriously worn, if necessary, adjust the tension of the chain or replace the wire rope.
Through the above detailed maintenance measures, the service life of the electric forklift can be effectively extended, the working efficiency can be improved, and the safety of the operator can be ensured. Regular maintenance and inspection not only helps to find and solve potential problems in time, but also prevents failures, thus guaranteeing the stable operation of forklift trucks and smooth production of enterprises.
